It's been about a year since v1.5 of this mod was released in the Smashboards. Although it was said that it would be the 'Final' version of the mod, something about that didn't fit well with me. I realized there was more I could do with this now 2-year-old mod.
I wanted it to be the definitive mod where both Smash 64 and Melee players could experience a brutal combo game without leaving their tech skill behind. And with that goal in mind, I restarted the project.Hybrid 64 is a mod that combines Smash 64's intense punish game with Melee's fast-paced movement to provide a new way of playing Super Smash Bros. That means better pivoting, more shield stun, more hitstun, less landing lag. All of that and more in one of the fastest iterations of Smash. Who said Melee couldn't get any faster? The mod also features Smash 64's sound effects, a new banner for its saves, new 'Ready' texture, 'Game Set' and 'Go!' Textures from Smash 64, and a re-balanced roster that's been in the works for way too long. (Like seriously.
It's been two years.)If you ever wanted to see how Melee would work in a Smash 64-like environment, perhaps this mod would show that.Current Version: 2.21You can find the mod's new SmashBoards thread. If you want to see more of this mod's origins or earlier patches, here's a to the original Smashboards thread of Hybrid 64.Full credits are in the Full Patch Notes link.
I hope you enjoy it!
